I write to process.

I write to share.

I write to expel,  investigate,  connect, publicize, stand out, convey, separate, unite, understand, distinguish, identify, comprehend, relate, inspire, exorcise, reveal, persuade, learn, heal, clarify, notice, express–and probably a few other things too.

What about you?  Why do you do what you do?

I write to bitch. I write to tell a story. I write to sell…myself…my “brand”…my way of thinking.

I write because it’s the one thing I’m good at and I can’t break the habit of writing.

And often, I wonder if it’s such a bad habit. 😉

I write to say the things I *WANT* to say to people but can’t.

For all the reasons said. And because it’s hard. Often uncomfortable.

But from both come growth and learning – and sometimes friends and fellow survivors of any given experience.

I do a lot of things…but i also write, and I think that I write so that I can do those other things better. It gives me balance. I also write because if the words I put out there touch even just one person, I’ve made a difference that matters to me in the world.

I write to put myself out there. It’s a form of therapy for my social anxiety disorder. Plus I’ve connected with some amazing people through my writing.

‘Cuz I’m a writer. And because it’s how I figure out what I really think and really want to say. Plus — lots of fun!

I write because I feel so strongly about the need for getting all our voices — women’s voices — out into the mainstream and taken seriously. Our lives and thoughts and opinions are just as good — if not better!! — than many talking heads. It’s just my little part to try to be a part of the larger conversation.

And because I’m a writer and I can’t help myself!

I write because it’s the only thing I really know how to do, the only thing I’ve ever stuck to without giving up, it’s my first love and if I do it everyday I am happy and energized.

I write because I have to. Because if I don’t, my head will explode and my ideas will die.
