My niece was introduced to The Elf On The Shelf last year, and it was hilarious. We expected to have this very moving, Hallmark-movie moment where she would open the gift, read the story, and fall in love with her new friend. Instead, she went into panic mode, starting to cry, and said “Mommy, I don’t want the Elf to watch me!” She learned to love him, named him “Hippo” and according to my sis he is back out to keep watch this year. So in short…once you get past the initial creepiness and trauma…it’s quite cute! 😉

The $30 price tag definitely been what has deterred me. $15? I’m there. Even $20 and I’d probably go for it, but $30 for a freakin’ elf doll?

He looks so cute in the tree though… it WOULD be fun…
